Visit Cedar Hill
While for some it may seem like winter will never end, spring IS right around the corner. The beginning of February is nearly here, and soon we will be enjoying the sights, smells and sounds of spring's arrival. In the meantime, we invite you to visit Cedar Hill Cemetery and take a self-guided tour of our most notable residents and memorials. Inside the entryway gates, you can pick up a Cedar Hill Cemetery Guide for Visitors and enjoy Cedar Hill's exquisite art, history and nature from the comfort and warmth of your car.
We are also excited to announce that in March we will be launching Guide by Cell. A self-guide tour service that allows you to use your cell phone to hear about Cedar Hill's history and most notable residents. We will provide the full details once they are available.
We would also like to remind you to mark your calendars now to join us for Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation's 3rd Annual Run for the Roses. This event celebrates the American tradition of the Kentucky Derby while supporting the preservation of Cedar Hill Cemetery - a National Historic Landmark. From cocktails to food to a silent auction - and, of course, the viewing of the Kentucky Derby live from Churchill Downs - you are sure to enjoy this unique and fun event. For more information, visit our website at www.cedarhillcemetery.org or call 860-956-3311. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Happy New Year
The arrival of 2009 brings another year of Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation working toward its mission. As a result, we have already begun to schedule our 2009 tours and events. This year's tours and events season will begin with the 3rd Annual Run for the Roses. Held at The Hartford Golf Club, this event raises unrestricted funds to support Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation's many projects, including restoring the historic memorial artworks and offering educational tours and events to the community. This year's Run for the Roses will include viewing the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby live from Churchill Downs, hors-d'oeuvres, cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and live music. Joe D'Ambrosio, WTIC radio personlaity and voice of the UConn Huskies, will be returning as emcee and will be joined this year by WFSB Channel 3 news anchor Irene O'Connor.
The 3rd Annual Run for the Roses will launch Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation's tours and events season, which will include the Cedar Hill: Behind the Scenes tour, a Mystery Scavenger Hunt, Communicating with Connecticut's Ghosts, and our annually anticipated Notable Tree Tour with Ed Richardson. For additional information about Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation's 2009 tours and events season, please view the information bar to the right or visit www.cedarhillcemetery.org.
